Fishing team places in first tournament

Four of The Woodlands College Park students participated in the SAF Sam Rayburn National High School Open Fishing Tournament last weekend in San Augustine, Texas. The four incoming freshmen make up the first TWCPHS fishing team, and this was their first tournament as a team. Out of eighty six teams participating, fifty eight weighed in a fish.

“The boys did everything,” said Coach Daw. According to rules, Coach Daw and Coach Beebee were not allowed to do anything other than ensure safety and drive the boat. “And we had a blast,” stated Coach Daw.

TWCPHS fishing team competed in pairs, and Joe Beebee and Jaxxon Whittington came in twelfth place and Tony Fazzino and Gavin Salton took thirty seventh place overall.

“We combined Saturday’s pre-fishing knowledge to form a game plan for Sunday, which played out nicely for both teams,” stated Coach Beebee. And even though according to Coach Beebee, “after the sun came up it was tough fishing,” both teams placed out of eighty six teams.
