Strykers’ Masters aims for starting spot with Sam Houston

Dirk Masters knows exactly what it’s going to take to break into Sam Houston State’s starting lineup in 2014.

The 6-foot-4, 210-pound infielder/outfielder/pitcher didn’t see much playing time in his freshman season in Huntsville, but that doesn’t seem to discourage him one bit.

“I just have to work on going hard every day and all day,” he said. “You just have to keep your mind right, and stay focused and get your job done.”

Masters got a total of four at-bats for the Bearkats this past spring, quite a different situation than what he experienced in high school.

As a senior at Angleton High School, about 50 minutes south of Houston, Masters was one of the top offensive players in the state of Texas. Click here for full story
