Conroe ISD celebrates the school year

The Conroe Independent School District celebrated the beginning of the new school year Thursday, August 22, at the yearly “Celebrate Our Schools” assemblies, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. The morning session began with the Elementary Teacher of the Year, Brian Moran, and the Secondary Teacher of the Year, Amy Perez, leading the pledges, which was followed by the Conroe ISD music and choir teachers singing the “National Anthem.” The teachers were followed by a student performance comprised of over fifty Conroe ISD students, who represented all Conroe ISD feeder zones.
Dr. Stockton shared facts, test scores, exciting news from each feeder zone, and more. During his presentation he invited Megan Fry, TWHS ninth grader

, to read to the audience. Megan began by thanking the teachers and aides who helped her learn how to read. She then read an encouraging children’s book by using a computer that she controls with her eyes.
In addition to celebrating the new school year, all who attended had the opportunity to donate to the Montgomery County Food Bank. Every dollar raised will allow the Montgomery Country Food Bank to purchase eleven pounds of food.
