The Woodlands Girls Field Hockey Club looks forward to promising season

With the start of school, sports teams return from summer hiatus. One sport often overlooked in our area is field hockey. Field hockey is primarily a northeastern sport due to the cooler weather during the season the sport is played. However, the hot Texas weather does not stop The Woodlands Girls Field Hockey Club from playing the sport that they love.
Few people know about the field hockey, although it is quite unique. “If you combined the excitement of Ice Hockey, the positions and strategy of Soccer, the ball of a crocket set, and mix in a little Cross Country stamina; you’ll find yourself in the middle of what we call field hockey,” said Coach Jeannie Holbert. Holbert is the new coach for the club, but is not new to the sport; she played at both a high school and college level.
