Cross Country: College Park wins the Nike South Invitational Meet

Area High Schools competed at The big Nike South Invitational Cross Country Meet on Saturday at Bear Branch. Connor Meaux lead College Park to the Elite Boys Division team title and Maddie McLellan paced The Woodlands to the Elite Girls Division title at Nike South.

Meaux ran fourth overall in a time of 16 minutes, 8 seconds as the Cavaliers (105) edged The Woodlands (123) for first place in the 24-team field. Chris Williams (16:36) ran 15th while Tanner Maloney (16:41) and Cooper Burner (16:44) ran 22nd and 26th in order. Logan Emery (16:25) and Thomas Rayton (16:34) finished 11th and 13th respectively to lead The Woodlands boys’ squad.

The Woodlands girls claimed the 24-team Elite field with a score of 93. Great Oak (98) was second and Southlake Carroll (110) third in a close race. McLellan ran seventh in the 5K race with a time of 18:51. Kara Zuspan (19:22), Abby Piontek (19:30) and Ashley Jansen (19:33) finished 15th, 17th, and 19th in order for The Woodlands.
