Volleyball: On The Cusp: The Woodlands Could Break Houston Drought

Every season we get to this point. One Houston-area team emerges as a state-power, but can’t close the deal.

Hence the VYPE 2013 Volleyball Preview call to action — #Enough_is_Enough. It’s been since Cypress Falls won a state title in 2000 that Houston has hoisted the state championship belt in any classification.

But this could be the year.

The Woodlands High School nearly won gold in 2010, with Katie Messing (Pepperdine) and Katie DiFrancesco (Northwestern La.) pounding the ball into the wood. Setting and digging that year were freshmen Courtney Eckenrode (San Diego State-commit) and Kelly Quinn (LSU-commit), respectively.
