VOLLEYBALL: College Park sweeps Conroe in ‘frustrating’ fashion

Wins don’t always come pretty. That was the case for College Park on Tuesday night as the Lady Cavaliers scrapped their way to a 25-21, 25-18, 25-21 victory over Conroe at Marsha Porter Gymnasium. College Park (20-9, 6-2) fell behind early in the first two games and had to hold off a late surge by the Tigerettes in the third to secure another important District 14-5A win. “We did play slow tonight,” Lady Cavs coach Candice Collins said. “I’m not really sure why, but we did, and it took us a while to get everything going. We did much better in the third game, but then we let up at the end.

“It’s a good win. Any time you can come in and win in somebody else’s place in three, that’s a good win. But it’s a little frustrating.”

Alyssa McNeely and Emily Thorson led the charge for College Park, recording 12 kills each. Andi Platt and Hannah Erwin paced the offense with 19 assists each, and Paige Kempker tallied a team-high 17 digs.
