Football: Wins keep coming for Woodlands Christian

The Woodlands Christian was having fun last week.

The Warriors scored 45 points in the first quarter and led Galveston O’Connell 72-0 at halftime, mostly thanks to a nearly unbelievable six kick returns for touchdowns in the first 24 minutes. Click here for full story

Tristian Suayan returned the opening kickoff for a score, Dirk Sanford returned three punts for touchdowns, Luke Hudson returned a free kick for a touchdown, and Kyle Konter took a partially blocked punt to the end zone.

“I’ve never, never seen anything like that before,” coachNate Sanford said. “Everything has to line up right.  “We have been focusing hard on special teams, so we really did do a good job of it, but I think they had some kids playing out of position. And maybe they didn’t necessarily mean to punt to Dirk the second or third times, or to kick it deep the second time, to Luke, like they did, but it happened.”

A lot of good things have happened to the Warriors lately. They’ve posted three consecutive shutout wins, and their starting unit hasn’t allowed a score since Sept. 13.But it hasn’t all been fun and games.
