The Woodlands accomplished one of its biggest goals for the season Tuesday night by clinching at least a share of the District 14-5A championship with a 25-15, 25-14, 25-9 victory over Bryan.
With the win, the No. 1 nationally-ranked Lady Highlanders (35-0, 10-0) have a chance to claim the league title outright Friday against College Park, which defeated Lufkin on Tuesday to keep its hopes for a shared championship alive.
“It is one of our goals always to win district, or at least share it, so to accomplish that has been really good,” The Woodlands coach Leslie Madison said. “Our district this year was tougher than it has been, so credit to the kids, for sure.”
Madison McDaniel led the way for the Lady Highlanders, recording 10 kills and nine digs. Courtney Eckenrode paced the offense with 28 assists and eight digs, Kelly Quinn tallied a team-high 12 digs and Courtney Quinn notched eight kills and five digs. click here for full story
