Russell Reid begins his third season as the Conroe girls basketball coach with a sense of optimism. The Tigerettes went 11-19 overall and 3-9 in District 14-5A last season but had the league’s newcomer of the year in freshman guard Erica Powell, a 5-foot-2 dynamo who averaged nine points, four assists and three steals per game.

The only problem, of course, is that Powell is returning from major knee surgery. She’ll be joined by senior forward Courtney Boatright, who averaged 5.6 points and 6.3 rebounds per game last season, and guard Reagan Magee, a two-time all-district selection who averaged 7.4 points per game last season. click here for full story
