Football: A&M Consolidated hammers Conroe

Playoff position already a done deal, the A&M Consolidated football team had one more bit of business to take care of against Conroe on Friday night. A&M Consolidated wanted to go out in style in its last home game.

Consol bid Tigerland Stadium adieu with a flourish, exploding for 35 points in the second quarter and rolling to a 63-19 victory over Conroe to putting the finishing touches on a 7-2 regular season. Conroe dropped to 4-5 overall and 1-4 in District 14-5A play.

A&M Consolidated, which has a bye next week, completed District 14-5A play at 5-1, securing no worse than sole possession of second place. Consol went into the game already assured of being the league’s top seed in the Class 5A Division II playoffs, which will begin in two weeks. click here for full story
