Baseball: Texas A&M baseball team signs nine players

download (4) The Texas A&M baseball team signed nine players for the 2015 season, including former Rudder star and Temple College’s Blake Kopetsky and six Perfect Game USA Top 500 players, head coach Rob Childress announced on Thursday.

“Coach (Justin) Seely, our recruiting coordinator, did an incredible job of putting together a very talented class along with the help of coach Andy Sawyers,” Childress said. “These young men are not only incredibly talented but they are also of great character. “

Eight of the nine players hail from the state of Texas, including seven prep standouts. The Texans includes C/UT Cole Bedford (Deer Park/Deer Park HS); OF Matt Collins (Houston/Memorial HS); RHP Brigham Hill (Nacogdoches/ Nacogdoches HS); INF/RHP Jake Jarvis (Spring/Klein Collins HS); OF Blake Kopetsky (Bryan/Rudder HS/Temple College); RHP Turner Larkins (Arlington/Martin HS); RHP/OF Corbin Martin (Cypress/Cy-Ranch HS) and RHP Tyler Woodmansee (Buda/Hays HS).

The Aggies also secured Iowa native OF Eric Schenck-Joblinske (Cedar Falls/Dike-New Hartford HS), a junior college transfer who played one season at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids.

Kopetsky played in 41 games for the Brazos Valley Bombers of the Texas Collegiate League in 2013. He hit .309 and had 34 runs, five home runs, 50 RBI and 11 stolen bases.

The six high school players ranked among the Perfect Game USA Top 500 include Larkins (72), Jarvis (121), Hill (145), Bedford (148), Martin (273) and Collins (291).
