Baseball: University of Texas signs 10 for 2014

Ten student-athletes who will join the baseball program in 2014 have signed letters of intent

download (5)The University of Texas baseball program has received National Letters of Intent from 10 student-athletes for the class of 2014, head coach Augie Garrido announced Thursday. Eight of the 10 student-athletes are from the state of Texas, while two come out of California. The group includes four pitchers and six positional players who will join the program in the fall semester of 2014.

The Longhorns added four pitchers – all right-handers – in Kyle Johnston (Flower Mound, Texas), Connor Mayes (Austin, Texas), Parker Joe Robinson (Coto de Caza, Calif.) and Tyler Schimpf (Citrus Heights, Calif.). A pair of catchers join the program in Michael Cantu (Corpus Christi, Texas) and Michael McCann (Round Rock, Texas), as do a pair of infielders in Joe Baker (McKinney, Texas) and Travis Jones (Humble, Texas). Outfielder Patrick Mathis (Venus, Texas) and shortstop/outfielder Kaleb Denny (Baytown, Texas) round out the class.
