The Woodlands executed its press to perfection Tuesday night to extend a pair of winning streaks. The Lady Highlanders forced 13 first-quarter turnovers to race out to a big lead on their way to a 62-32 victory over Conroe at the Marsha Porter Gymnasium.
The Woodlands improved to 12-5 with its third straight win to start the District 14-5A slate, and advanced an impressive league unbeaten streak to 30 games.
“We did a great job on the front of the press,” Lady Highlanders coach Dana Bruton said. “I think it accounts for a lot of our transition points and allowed us to jump out to a 23-4 lead. Any time you can come out with a first quarter like that, then you can relax and settle into different lineups and different combinations and work on getting deeper. That’s always our goal.”
The Tigerettes (9-9, 0-3) turned the ball over on nine straight possessions in the first quarter as The Woodlands went on a 16-0 run to take a 17-2 lead. click here for complete story
