With The Woodlands Marathon only 70 days away, race director Willie Fowlkes made some special announcements about the event at Fleet Feet Sports on Thursday evening.
The third annual Fidelity Investments The Woodlands Marathon, as it is officially named, will be held on Saturday, March 1. It will feature a new single-loop route, which Fowlkes said he hopes will allow the elite runners to finish with some blazing times. “The runners had requested it,” Fowlkes said. “We’ve been trying to do it. We thought we would go to a single loop in Year 4 or 5, but because of this year’s current construction situation, we expedited it a little early. It’s pretty exciting. It will set up as a faster course. It will also help us from an operational side of things. We’re excited about the elites who are going to come in and run this course. We think they’re going to light it up pretty fast.”
In addition to the new course, Fowlkes and his team also revealed designs for finisher T-shirts and medals for the race, which includes the full marathon, marathon relay, St. Luke’s The Woodlands Half Marathon, Fleet Feet Sports 5K and the Pathfinder Pediatric 2K. click here for complete story and event link
