Boys Basketball: Oak Ridge tops Crosby at Conroe Christmas Classic

Oak Ridge’s Josh Myers scored 18 points to lead three players in double figures as the War Eagles crushed Crosby 62-45 on Friday night in the Conroe Christmas Classic.
After both teams lost earlier in the day to be sent to the loser’s bracket, Oak Ridge made six of its first seven shots to take a 14-6 lead in the first quarter. Myers sank 6 of 7 attempts from 3-point range, including 4 of 4 in the second half, to key the rout.

“I’ve told him several times, ‘I need you shooting it,’” first-year War Eagles coach Joe Price said. “‘I’m not taking you out if you miss four in a row. Now, if you miss five in a row, I might take you out. But I’m not taking you out if you miss four in a row.’ I haven’t seen him miss four in a row all season. He’s got that kind of range.”

“We came out with a different defensive approach,” Price said. “I felt like our zone would give them troubles and I think it did. We just had some guys step up and hit some shots and played pretty well.”
The War Eagles play Huntsville or Pasadena Memorial at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the loser’s bracket semifinals. Magnolia West and Morton Ranch square off at 9 a.m. in the other semifinal with the consolation championship set for 1:30 p.m. click here for complete story
