
After falling to North Shore in the championship game of the Insperity Holiday Classic on Saturday, The Woodlands coach Dale Reed knew his team needed a strong performance against Cypress Lakes on Monday to get back on track.
The Highlanders took control early against a strong Spartans team and fought their way to a decisive 58-39 home victory. Cody Mason led the way for The Woodlands with 14 points, Zach Manning finished with 10 and Garrett Smith added eight. Nick Garth paced Cypress Lakes with 14 points while Jonathan Bradley added 11. Sophomore point guard De’Aaron Fox, the Spartans’ leading scorer at nearly 22 points per contest, was held to seven.
The Woodlands improved to 16-6 overall with the win while Cypress Lakes dropped to 13-4. The Highlanders, who are 2-0 in league play, will resume their District 14-5A schedule when they host Lufkin at 7 p.m. on Friday. click here for the complete story
