College Park takes a 12-game winning streak into tonight’s District 14-5A game against the Conroe Tigers.
Conroe has spent the last four days in the gym looking for the edge it will need to earn its first District 14-5A victory.
“We’ve practiced hard all week, and the guys are energetic about starting 2014 at College Park,” Conroe coach John Oliverio said. “We feel like we if we play good basketball, the kind of basketball we’re capable of, that we can come out on top.”
College Park takes a 19-5 record into tonight’s home game while the Tigers check in at 8-12.
“We’re definitely expecting a tough contest,” College Park coach Clifton McNeely said. “They’re a team that’s continuing to get better, and you can see that with Coach Oliverio, they’re buying into his program. You can see their kids playing hard. They’ll do some different things to keep you off-balance defensively.”
College Park is 1-0 in District 14-5A play while the Tigers are looking for their first 14-5A victory in three tries. College Park won last week’s Texan Hoop Fest tournament in Austin, defeating Pflugerville Connally 73-62 in the championship game. click here for complete story
