
Click here for complete story and additional photos: The Woodlands used a barrage of first-half goals to turn back Stratford 5-2 at Weldon Willig Field on Thursday afternoon, the first day of competition in the Highlanders’ annual Kilt Cup.
Bubacarr Jobe and Primo Covarrubias, new additions to this year’s team, scored three and two goals, respectively, to lead the charge for The Woodlands.
“The first game is important because, hopefully, it sets the tone,” Highlanders coach Hans Kleinschmidt said. “Offensively, I think we found a good rhythm in the first 15-20 minutes.”
Jobe found the back of the net early and often, with all three of his goals coming in the opening 17 minutes of the contest.
