Cinco Ranch converted a penalty kick late in the second half to edge College Park 1-0 on Friday afternoon in the Lady Highlander Invitational at Bear Branch Sports Fields. The Lady Cougars controlled the first half, especially the opening quarter-hour, but the Lady Cavaliers responded with a more threatening second half.

College Park junior goalkeeper Grace Johnson kept Cinco Ranch off the scoreboard with an array of stops in the first half and finished with five saves.

The Lady Cougars unleashed 11 shots before halftime, though Johnson only had to get her hands dirty on two. Cinco Ranch’s Halleanne Dure fired over the crossbar in the seventh minute and hit the base of the left post on a lob shot over a stranded Johnson in the 35th. click here for complete story and photos
