Houston area looks to end state title skid in soccer

1. Can the Houston area come home with a UIL title, something that has been done only once since 2007?

The Woodlands captured the 5A girls crown in 2010, but it’s been a long drought other than that. The area sends plenty of talented teams to the state tournament, as should be the case again this season. But Greater Houston teams are just 1-10 in championship games over the last seven years. Early favorites Klein, Langham Creek and Waller on the boys’ side, and Clear Falls, Seven Lakes and Kingwood Park on the girls’ side, will lead the charge. Whoever reaches the state tournament still will find stiff competition – 12 girls teams from the Dallas-Fort Worth area are in this week’s Student Sports Fab 50 national poll (Houston has one). click here for complete story
