The Pit produced a raucous atmosphere for Conroe’s District 14-5A tilt against Lufkin on Friday night. The best player on the floor rose to the occasion.
Senior Stedman Bell scored 10 of his game-high 17 points in the fourth quarter, including four clutch free throws, as the Tigers cut down the Panthers 51-48 for their first league victory. Bell was dynamite from start to finish, picking up a pair of steals in the first quarter and a vicious slam dunk before putting Conroe on his back down the stretch.
“The team was looking toward me to keep the game going, step up and be a leader, knock down my shots like we do in practice,” Bell said.
The Tigers led by as many as nine points before Lufkin rallied in the third quarter, when the Panthers forced six turnovers and Keke Coutee scored eight points. click here for complete story
