The second and final round of the District 14-5A boys’ basketball schedule begins Tuesday. Well for most, anyway. Not for league-leading College Park. The Cavaliers open the second round with a bye and then host Oak Ridge at 7 p.m. Friday.
“Hopefully we can use (the bye) to our advantage as we get ready for Oak Ridge,” Cavaliers head basketball coach Clifton McNeely said. “We’ll take a few days off, try to get their legs back and rested, and then we have a tough two-and-a-half, three-week schedule.”
It’s going to get very interesting, not only for the district championship race
(which has dwindled down to a two-team race between College Park and The Woodlands) but for the final two playoff berths as well. As the second half begins, the standings reveal that College Park is the lone unbeaten. The Woodlands (5-1), its only loss to the Cavaliers, is right behind and no doubt has the Feb. 7 rematch at College Park circled on its calendar. click here for complete story
