The Woodlands ended one of the nation’s most dominant volleyball seasons in November, but the Highlanders aren’t done celebrating.
On Friday, they’ll be part of the fourth annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions
presented by the Army National Guard and presented with a national ranking trophy at a pep rally. It’s scheduled for 10:20 at the gym.
The Woodlands went 45-0 in 2013, sweeping San Antonio Churchill in the state championship match to claim the Class 5A title. Their resume put them atop the final MaxPreps Xcellent 25 National Rankings, giving the Highlanders a mythical national championship to go with the program’s first state title.
The Highlanders dropped only five games during the season. And it wasn’t just the varsity that dominated – every team in the program (varsity, junior varsity and two freshman) went undefeated for a combined 118-0. Throw in the teams at McCullough Junior High School, which feeds into The Woodlands, and the total goes to 174-0. click here for complete story
