Baseball: College Park finishes Ferrell Classic 5-0

College Park finished with a perfect 5-0 record at the Ferrell Classic this weekend, capping the tournament with two victories on Saturday at its home field. The Cavaliers (8-3) rolled to a 12-2 win over Klein Forest in the first contest of the day and defeated Atascocita 6-1 in the nightcap.

“I’m just proud of the way our kids battled,” College Park coach Jason Washburn said. “When teams scored on us, we answered, and that’s a sign of a fighting club. They’re not going to just lay down because they gave up a run.”

College Park used a strong outing from starting pitcher Tyler Mortensen to take down Atascocita. The junior right-hander went 5 2/3 innings, allowing only four hits and no earned runs with five strikeouts and four walks. click here for complete story
