
HOBOKEN, N.J. (March 24, 2014) – Stevens Institute of Technology baseball sophomore hurler Greg Jakusik (The Woodlands, Texas) was named Empire 8 Conference and CUNYAC Pitcher of the Week on Monday.
Jakusik tossed a seven-inning complete game against the College of Staten Island on March 22 in a CUNYAC showdown. The southpaw came out victorious in a 2-1 ballgame and struck out 11 batters while allowing just three hits. He also walked three and was charged with an unearned run.
Through 15 innings pitched this season, Jakusik boasts a 1.80 earned-run average and holds his opponents to just a .182 batting average. He has fanned 21 hitters and surrendered just two extra base hits.
Stevens travels to William Paterson University on March 26 for a non-conference contest at 3:30 p.m. This Saturday and Sunday, the Ducks head to St. John Fisher College for a pair of Empire 8 doubleheaders against the nationally ranked No. 29 Cardinals.
