The War Eagles accumulated 46.5 points as a team, edging both Houston (Tenn.) and Opelika (Ala.) by 1.5 points.

“To be honest, it’s still kind of surreal and hasn’t quite sunken in that they pulled it off,” Oak Ridge coach Dennis Muehlstein said. “The kids did amazing. It was a very competitive meet that came down to the very end.”

Oak Ridge was led by Trumaine Jefferson, who took first in the long jump and fourth in the high jump, collecting a total of 14 points toward his team’s score. The senior earned a mark of 6-02.00 in the high jump and 22-07.25 in the long jump.
