Baseball: Ridgeway throws complete-game shutout as Cavaliers beat Lufkin

53324b1cd3414.preview-300As good as Beau Ridgeway was on Tuesday night, College Park coach Jason Washburn knows his junior right-hander can be even better. Ridgeway threw a three-hit, complete-game shutout against Lufkin, leading the Cavaliers to a 4-0 victory over the Panthers at The Diamonds at College Park.

“He left 10 men on base, so that was a big deal,” Washburn said. “They had traffic every inning. He never had the luxury of having a clean inning — three up, three down. … He’s had 14 shutout innings here in a row, so he’s obviously throwing the ball really well, and he’s working himself out of jams. He can be better, and he knows it, and he’s going to continue to try to get better.”

With the win, the Cavs improved to 14-6 overall and remained undefeated in District 14-5A at 4-0. They will face The Woodlands, which is also 4-0, at 7 p.m. on Friday at Scotland Yard. With the loss, Lufkin dropped to 8-10-2 overall and 1-3 in league play. click here for complete story
