One inning, one at-bat or even one pitch can change the complexion of a baseball game, and that’s precisely what happened on Saturday afternoon at Scotland Yard.
The Woodlands’ Chris Andritsos gave his team a one-run lead with a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth inning, and the Highlanders fought tooth and nail to pull out a 4-2 victory over crosstown rival College Park.
“With all the hype surrounding College Park and Oak Ridge being the teams to beat this year, we just thought we’d show up and see if we could give them a game,” The Woodlands coach Ron Eastman said. “We’re growing up. We have a lot of experience from last year — we had some great battles in the playoffs. It’s rubbing off on the younger guys.”
The Woodlands, ranked No. 6 in the state by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association, improved to 19-3 overall and now stands alone in first place in District 14-5A with a perfect 5-0 mark. click here for complete story
