A plethora of Montgomery County athletes excelled on Saturday at the 87th annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin.
The Woodlands’ Abbey Piontek, Lindsay Wilken, Rachel Lesko and Madi McLellan just missed out on a gold medal in the distance medley relay. They clocked 12 minutes, 0.98 seconds. Lewisville Marcus won in 11:59.37.
College Park — Connor Meaux, Walter Sagehorn, Colton Nettleton and Christopher Williams — finished fifth in the boys event with a time of 10:25.98.
The Lady Highlanders’ Ellyana Long finished second in the high jump by clearing 5-6½. The sophomore lost out on the gold medal to DeSoto’s Latyria Jefferson, who didn’t miss an attempt at 5-6½. Long cleared the height on her third and final try, and both missed all three jumps at 5-8½.
