When judges asked 17-year-old Dayle Anne Krauskopf what effect being Fair Queen would have on her life in five years, the Conroe High School junior almost didn’t have an answer. From 11 candidates on Saturday, Krauskopf was crowned the 2014 Montgomery County Fair Queen. The future petroleum engineering hopeful intends on using part of her $3,000 scholarship winnings to study at Texas A&M, she said.

Each of the Fair Queen candidates were required to be a high school junior or equivalent, and enlist a sponsor to be eligible to enter. Oak Ridge High School’s Maggie Roberts, 16, was named “Miss Congeniality” by her fellow contestants. This is the sixth year the Fair Queen contestants have been allowed to select the congeniality winner. Roberts was awarded a $500 scholarship. click here for complete story
