Before the postseason had even started, McKinney Boyd head coach Casey Osborn preached that his Broncos had to work on their mental toughness after a 3-1 win over McKinney in Boyd’s final game of District 10-5A.

The true test on whether that message was relayed to the team, and if the Broncos gave any credence to their coach’s words, would come in a rematch of last season’s Class 5A Regional II Semifinals against the Woodlands.

“They’re passing the test so far,” Osborn said.

It took regulation and two overtimes, but Boyd stayed resilient to defeat the Woodlands, 2-1, in the regional semifinals Friday afternoon at the Kelly Reeves Complex in Austin. click here for complete story
