The streak lives on.
The Woodlands’ softball team captured an unprecedented eighth straight district title on Friday night at Highlander Field with a 7-2 victory over Bryan.
Oak Ridge’s 6-4 road loss to A&M Consolidated ensured that this year’s 14-5A championship would be outright.
“It’s weird because it’s never happened — we never got any help from teams down at the bottom,” The Woodlands coach Richard Jorgensen said. “We’ve always gone into the last one or two games — even though we were having a great season — we’d go into the last two games having to clinch. So this is kind of new territory right now, clinching this early.”
The No. 5 state-ranked Lady Highlanders (26-2, 10-0) got two hits apiece from Aubrey Leach and Abby Langkamp, who hit a solo home run and struck out six batters in the circle. click here for complete story and additional photos
