The District 14-5A softball playoff chase got a lot tighter on Friday.

The College Park High School softball (16-5, 6-4) team fell, 8-4, at Lufkin while Oak Ridge dropped a 6-4 decision at A&M Consolidated. When the smoke cleared, Oak Ridge (7-3) maintained a one-game lead over third-place College Park and Lufkin, both 6-4 in district play. Bryan (5-6) is still alive despite falling to league-leading The Woodlands (10-0). College Park hosts The Woodlands on Tuesday before closing the 2014 regular season at Bryan on Friday.
