The Woodlands made significant improvement in Day Two of the Region II-5A boys golf championships, but it wasn’t enough to get the Highlanders to the state tournament.

The Woodlands turned in a second-round score of 299 to finish with a two-day score of 635, which left the Highlanders in a fifth-place tie with Atascocita. Austin Westlake won the tournament with a two-day total of 601, and Westlake’s second-day score of 295 was only four shots ahead of The Woodlands. Atascocita’s Logan Davis was the individual medalist, finishing with a 75-69 — 144.
