Golf: The Woodlands boys finish fifth in regional tourney

The Woodlands made significant improvement in Day Two of the Region II-5A boys golf championships, but it wasn’t enough to get the Highlanders to the state tournament.

“We went down fighting,” TDSC01977he Woodlands coach Steve Cribari said. “The first day just took us out of it.”

The Woodlands turned in a second-round score of 299 to finish with a two-day score of 635, which left the Highlanders in a fifth-place tie with Atascocita. Austin Westlake won the tournament with a two-day total of 601, and Westlake’s second-day score of 295 was only four shots ahead of The Woodlands. Atascocita’s Logan Davis was the individual medalist, finishing with a 75-69 — 144.
