In a baseball game they absolutely had to have, the Oak Ridge War Eagles came into Scotland Yard and earned one of the biggest wins in school history on Friday night.
Facing possible playoff elimination, the War Eagles rode the determined pitching of Tyler Miller and the timely hitting of Joey Barrile and Anthony Smith to score a 5-4 win over the District 14-5A-champion Woodlands Highlanders. The win allowed Oak Ridge (23-6) to finish fourth in the final 14-5A standings at 7-5 and earn the league’s final playoff spot. It will meet either Klein Collins or Atascocita in a Region II-5A bi-district playoff series next week.
