Baseball: Oak Ridge stuns The Woodlands, clinches playoff spot

In a baseball game they absolutely had to have, the Oak Ridge War Eagles came into Scotland Yard and earned one of the biggest wins in school history on Friday night.

TWOR_BaseballFacing possible playoff elimination, the War Eagles rode the determined pitching of Tyler Miller and the timely hitting of Joey Barrile and Anthony Smith to score a 5-4 win over the District 14-5A-champion Woodlands Highlanders. The win allowed Oak Ridge (23-6) to finish fourth in the final 14-5A standings at 7-5 and earn the league’s final playoff spot. It will meet either Klein Collins or Atascocita in a Region II-5A bi-district playoff series next week.
