Track and field: The Woodlands’ McLellan wins regional 3,200; Oak Ridge’s Jefferson takes high jump title

The Woodlands’ Madi McLellan and Kara Zuspan went 1-2 in the girls’ 3,200-meter run at the Region II-5A track and field championships on Friday at Baylor University, earning a berth in the state meet in the process.

Oak Ridge’s Trumaine Jefferson was the winner in the high jump, pulling it out with a leap of six feet, eight inches, while the Lady War Eagles’ N’Dia Warren-Jaques cruised to victory in the girls shot put, getting off a winning effort of 46-2.

College Park’s Tristen Newman advanced to the state meet for the third consecutive year, winning the boys shot put with a throw with a throw of 62-8. The Woodlands freshman Adrian Piperi was second, reaching the state meet with an effort of 58-6 1/4. click here for the complete story
