Back-to-back District 13-5A champions take aim at Oak Ridge
Klein Collins lost its coach and three key players who are playing baseball in college. It didn’t lose its championship swagger. The Tigers head into the playoffs this week as back-to-back District 13-5A champions.
“Every team in the district has the capability of knocking you off each and every night,” said first-year coach Chris Griffin, who replaced departed coach Miguel Carlos. “With Klein and Klein Oak being such rival games, it’s always tough, and Klein got us (March 11) on one of the last at-bats of the game.
“We were fortunate enough to get out of Atascocita (1-0) the first time because they really outplayed us most of the game. We felt we were very fortunate to get a ‘W’ there, and it opened our eyes to, ‘Hey, just because we’re winning doesn’t necessarily mean we’re playing good ball.” click here for complete story
