Less than 24 hours after Klein Collins pitcher Jake Jarvis willed the Tigers to a Game 2 victory over Oak Ridge, his teammate, Angel DeLaFuente, did the same.
DeLaFuente went 4 for 4 with three doubles, a grand slam and seven RBIs as his team closed out a 2-1 bi-district series victory with a 7-3 win over the War Eagles on Saturday afternoon.
“We tried to pitch around him a little bit, but even that last time, we were talking about walking him,” Oak Ridge coach Mike Pirtle said. “It hadn’t been like that during the year, but it was just one of those days where he’s hitting a big ball. Some of the pitches we were trying to throw in different places, they just didn’t get there, and he took advantage of them. He had a good day.”
With the loss, the War Eagles’ season came to an end with a 23-8 record, and for the second consecutive year, Oak Ridge was sent home in a decisive, first-round Game 3. click here for complete story and video
