Bowie swept a pair of games from The Woodlands, the defending Class 5A state champion, to advance to the regional-quarterfinal round of the UIL baseball playoffs.
The Bulldogs (27-8) limited The Woodlands to a single run in each of the two games Saturday at Burger Field.
Lake Travis 7, Bryan 2: Senior right-hander Bryce Barr allowed only two runs over seven innings, and Lake Travis broke a tie with a five-run seventh to sweep a Class 5A area-round playoff series. Lake Travis will face Humble Atascocita next week in a regional-quarterfinal matchup. The Cavaliers won the opening game of the series late Friday night, topping Bryan 1-0 in eight innings when Drew Judson’s single scored Connor Fussell.
