The Woodlands senior Madi McLellan finished her high school career with another silver medal on Saturday at the UIL State Track and Field Championships. McLellan was second in the Class 5A 3,200-meter run, and she was later fifth in the 1,600.
Meaux nabs silver: In his first state meet, College Park junior Connor Meaux sat on Keller senior Austen Dalquist, who led the boys 3,200 from wire to wire and finished in a personal-best 8:57.75.
Williams, Emery 2-3 in 1,600: College Park’s Christopher Williams and The Woodlands’ Logan Emery each made a big move over the last half of the boys 1,600 to secure a spot on the medal stand. Williams earned silver and Emery bronze. Both seniors recorded personal records: Williams in 4:15.01 and Emery in 4:15.68.
Teams: The College Park boys tallied 24 points to finish in a three-way tie for fourth place with Keller and Cibolo Steele. The Cavaliers got runner-up showings from Meaux, Williams and Tristen Newman in the shot put.
