CISD Graduate Spotlight: Trumaine Jefferson II of Oak Ridge High School

“He said to just run and jump, so I ran and jump,” said Trumaine Jefferson II, Oak Ridge High School Senior.

He is referring to a track meet held in Tomball earlier this semester when his IMG_7326coach asked him to long jump for the first time. Trumaine, who competed in the 200 yard dash, had never tried long jumping at practice so he gave it his best shot. The best is exactly what he achieved with a 24 feet and 7 inches jump, a jump that would change his life overnight.

“He exudes a contagious strength and spirit that motivates others to make better choices in their lives,” commented Leigha Ruffin, ORHS Counselor.

He is admired by both students and staff not only for his athletic and leadership abilities but also for his will to persevere. Though there was a time Trumaine did not have a place to call home and he was surrounded by many opportunities to make bad choices, he never loss focus to strive for better in his life. click here for complete story
