Paige McDuffee made her first big playoff appearance count.
The UCLA sophomore, a 2012 graduate of The Woodlands High School, earned the save in the Bruins’ 1-0 victory over Notre Dame on Sunday. Third-seeded UCLA advanced to the super regionals with the victory and will host No. 14 Kentucky this weekend with a berth to the eight-team NCAA tournament on the line.
McDuffee tossed 2 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and three walks while striking out one. It was her second save of the season. The Bruins won all three of their regional games by shutout, the first time they’ve recorded three straight shutouts since 2010. UCLA opened the four-team regional with an 8-0 triumph over Southern Utah, then defeated the Fighting Irish 7-0. click here for complete story and additional photos
