Baseball: (video) Aggies to Face Longhorns in Houston, Bearkats Bound for Fort Worth

Both Texas A&M and Sam Houston State received at-large berths to the NCAA Tournament today, and neither team will have the leave the state.

Childress+and+AugieThe Bearkats are headed to Fort Worth, while the Aggies head south to face their old rival the Texas Longhorns. Texas and Texas A&M have faced off 363 times. The 364th meeting will be will be their first against each other in the NCAA Tournament.

Aggie pitcher Daniel Mengden said, “We want to approach it as another postseason game, but in the end it is UT. Anybody who’s an Aggie knows it a rivalry and it’d going to be a fight and it’s going to be a great game.”

A&M senior Krey Bratsen is also fired up to play the Horns. “Getting to play in a regional, especially against Texas again, I keep going back to that, but just the atmosphere. I remember playing them here and there and the crowd was unreal. Just being able to play in that was unreal.”

The Longhorns are also intrigued to be facing A&M. “It’ll be fun. It’s going to be a fun game because we don’t play them in the regular season but at the end of the day it’s another baseball game that we need to win in order to reach our goal,” said Texas pitcher Nathan Thornhill. click here for video and complete story
