Experience will be a key component for The Woodlands this weekend as it attempts to capture Class 5A softball supremacy in Austin.

Three Lady Highlanders were members of the 2011 state championship team: seniors Sidney Salmans, Caitlin Bartsch and Amy Cimera. The trio would like nothing more than to complete their prep careers with bookend titles.

“They have the experience of being there and knowing what to expect,” The Woodlands coach Richard Jorgensen said. “It helps tremendously with all the other girls.”

The team boarded its bus Thursday afternoon to make the 150-mile voyage to the state capital. Jorgensen said the girls spent a portion of the trip reading booklets filled with notes of encouragement from their teachers, parents and coaches. click here for complete story
