Nine new cadets and midshipmen received their official send-off from U.S. Rep Kevin Brady, R-The Woodlands, at his annual Academy Send-off Breakfast at The Woodlands United Methodist Church Saturday.
Also in attendance were the cadets’ families and members of the Service Academy Nomination Board, as well as keynote speaker, 2010 Brady appointee and recent Naval Academy graduate Ensign Brynn Umbach and her parents Steven and Lisa.
Brady opened the breakfast by congratulating the cadets on their appointments and saying he was reassured that the future of the nation was in good hands.
“These are the future leaders of our country,” Brady said. “I’m reassured, and I know those who have gone through the Academy process on our Academy Board are reassured, in the future of our nation because of the caliber of the young men and women we see in this room this morning.”
Lt. Col Champe Miller, a long-serving member of the Board, led everyone in the Pledge and invocation, as well as reading the Cadet Prayer from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Read more…
