By Monday, Atascocita coach Eric Matthews had had a couple days to get over his team’s loss in the state semifinals. It didn’t help.

“I don’t feel any better,” Matthews said.

“But I’m proud of the boys and what they accomplished. They grinded it out day-in and day-out and I couldn’t ask for more. I wish it would have ended a little different but it wasn’t for lack of effort.”

The Eagles fell 5-4 to San Antonio Reagan in the semifinals of the Class 5A tournament in Round Rock, ending a magical playoff run that included the program’s first regional championship. Click here for complete story and additional photos
