Michael Aquino and the Rice Owls didn’t make it to Omaha for the College World Series, but the former College Park star is headed there for a return engagement.
The senior outfielder is headed for TD Ameritrade Park to defend his title in the College Home Run Derby, festivities that will unfold on July 3 in Omaha before a national television audience.
“This time,” Aquino said, “it’ll be on live TV.”
Aquino will again be accompanied by College Park coach Jason Washburn, who served up the batting practice balls in last year’s competition. ESPN showed Aquino’s victory on tape-delay last summer, when he hit 19 home runs, including six in the championship round, to claim the victory over Georgia Tech’s Matt Gonzalez in the finals. click HERE for additional photos & complete story
