Motor Sports: TWHS Toppe to make Pro Mazda debut at Grand Prix of Houston

Clark Toppe is still in high school, but that’s not stopping him from making waves in the ultra-competitive sport of auto racing.

Toppe, a 16-year-old and junior-to-be at The Woodlands High School, will make his Pro Mazda Championship debut at his home race: the Grand Prix of Houston, which is set for this weekend at Reliant Park. The track is a 1.7-mile, temporary street circuit built in and around the Reliant Park complex. The track has 10 turns and five pedestrian bridges.

“It think it’s really cool because it’s my home race,” Toppe said. “A bunch of my friends get to come out and watch, and it’s really cool to get the local support in such a good series.”

The Pro Mazda Championship debuted as a new series in 2013, replacing the Star Mazda Championship, which ceased operation in 2012 after 22 years. click here for complete story
