Head, neck trauma led to Lake Conroe drowning

53bcb9ce604f3.imageThe official cause of death of 21-year-old Elliot Richoux has been ruled as a drowning, exasperated by severe head and neck trauma from diving into roughly 5 feet of water on Lake Conroe Friday, according to Montgomery County Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Wayne Mack.

Witnesses told authorities that Richoux dove into the lake, but they eventually lost sight of him. The witnesses described Richoux as a very good swimmer and, momentarily, they thought he was joking around by not emerging from the water. When the witnesses started calling for him, it became clear they could not find him.

A toxicology report to determine whether alcohol or drugs could have played a role in the drowning are not expected to be completed for another four to six weeks.

Richoux, a baseball standout at The Woodlands High School and 2011 graduate, was with a group of friends and family visiting his mother at the Walden subdivision on Lake Conroe. click HERE for complete story
